According to a report by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, roadway incidents accounted for nearly a quarter of work-related fatalities in 2019. This is easily the top cause of work-related fatalities, followed by slips/falls, workplace violence and contact with objects and equipment.

Many companies solely think of fleet safety as prevention of automobile physical damage-type claims. But the truth is, fleet-related claims can have a devastating impact on so much more, including property damage, employee and civilian injury/death and public relations. It is time to stop thinking of vehicle accidents as merely an auto exposure and to start treating them as a major threat to company reputation and employee safety.
